TRI-16

Trigger Power Switch

Description

Convenient and Reliable Trigger-Based Power

Many powerful pro audio amplifiers are built for performance and reliability, but not necessarily for seamless integration into residential cinema systems. The TRI-16 closes this gap by adding a clean, simple and reliable trigger-based power interface. It was developed primarily for amplifiers and professional audio devices that do not provide an API, network control, standby mode, 12 V trigger input or any other convenient method for remote power control.

This robust trigger-controlled power switch is designed for high-performance audio and home cinema systems and is especially useful for powerful amplifiers such as our AIA2-10K2 IS or DSP4-10K2. It can also be used with other amplifiers, processors, active speakers or electrical devices that need to be switched on automatically.

The unit receives a standard low-voltage trigger signal and switches the connected mains device on or off via its IEC power connection. A 3.5 mm mono trigger input is used, with tip = +12 V and sleeve/shield = 0 V. A trigger passthrough output allows multiple devices to be daisy-chained, making the TRI-16 easy to integrate into larger cinema or audio systems. The included Quick Guide specifies 12 V mono trigger input/output, 20 A continuous and 45 A peak capability.

At the heart of the TRI-16 is a powerful contactor, an industrial-grade electromechanical switching component designed for reliable load control. Instead of relying on a small consumer-style relay, the TRI-16 uses a serious electromechanical switching stage with generous current handling, making it an ideal companion for high-power amplifiers with demanding startup behavior.

With its strong switching stage, IEC mains input and output, trigger-controlled operation, permanent on override function, and daisy-chain capability, the TRI-16 is a simple but highly reliable interface between the low-voltage control world of home theater and the high-current demands of serious power amplifiers. It keeps system operation clean, automatic and professional—especially when integrating powerful pro-audio equipment into premium residential cinema installations.
